Pfc. Brandon Swenson, a Yankton native, with the South Dakota Army National Guard's Charlie Battery, 1/147th Field Artillery, Yankton, fills sandbags at the city Recycling Facility to be used for flood relief by residents of Pierre. More than 600 South Dakota Guardsmen have been called upon to assist the communities affected by the Missouri River flood. National Guardsmen have been focusing on sandbagging operations for use by city government and residents to protect infrastructure assets and private property. All available state Army and Air National Guardsmen are on alert for possible mobilization to provide flooding relief.
