Construction is ongoing at Lock 1 on the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tenn., Aug. 31, 1891. The view shows the stone blocks for the walls looking downstream. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District built the lock and dam to establish a navigation channel. The old locks and dams were replaced by today's modern dams. (USACE Photo)
