STRAIT OF HORMUZ (Dec. 8, 2017) Aviation Electrician's Mate 1st Class Justin Horner completes a pre-flight check of an MH-60R, assigned to the Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 48, aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61). Monterey is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
