SASEBO, Japan (Jan. 4, 2018) Officers assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) approach the Royal Fleet Auxiliary fast fleet tanker RFA Tidesurge (A138) for a ship tour. Bonhomme Richard Sailors visited Tidesurge to learn about the ship’s functions and capabilities, and to enhance relationships between the U.S. and U.K. naval forces. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
