Honorary pallbearers fold the U.S. flag that was draped on Retired Gen. Richard E. Cavazos’ casket during his internment ceremony Nov. 14, 2017, at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Texas. In 1976 Mexican-American Cavazos made military history by becoming the first Hispanic to attain the rank of brigadier general in the U.S. Army. Less than 20 years later, the native Texan would again make history by being appointed the U.S. Army's first Hispanic four-star general. He had been retired since 1984 and died Oct. 29, 2017 after a long illness at 88. (U.S. Air Force photo by Ismael Ortega)
