Unload, organize, layout and upload for distribution to FEMA’s contractors is the mission of DynCorp at the Army Corps of Engineers Lay Down Site at the Port of Ponce, Puerto Rico, 22 Dec. 2017. The parts supplied to the vendors range from nuts and bolts to 55-foot power transmission poles. The laydown site is open daily and offers parts pickup twice a day. A second lay down site will be opening in the last week of December or the first week in January to allow for a secondary option for the crews to save time, helping to speed up the power restoration efforts.
USACE is partnering with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, the Department of Energy and FEMA to restore safe and reliable power to the people of Puerto Rico. As assigned by FEMA, USACE leads the federal effort to repair the hurricane-damaged electrical power grid in support of the Government of Puerto Rico. PREPA’s report on status PR shows the current load is 65.4% of the average pre-storm load.
