U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Jesus Gonzalez jumps through an obstacle during the 3rd Marine Division Annual Squad Competition Dec. 7, 2017, at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The squad competition is conducted to test and compare each unit to see which is the fittest for combat. The squads are with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment; 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment; 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment and Combat Assault Battalion. Gonzalez, a Stockton, Calif. native, is a rifleman assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment.
