On top of a building on the outskirts of Mosul, Spc. Jeff Newberry watches his surroundings. As a member of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Newberry conducts infantry operations throughout northern Iraq. In January, the specialist saved two fellow Soldiers and an Iraqi police officer from drowning in the Tigris River. For his heroism, he received the Soldiers Medal on July 11.
