Marines tread water during a reconnaissance screening on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 1, 2017. Screeners with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion evaluated service members interested in attending the Basic Reconnaissance Course through a series of physically demanding tests. The screening included a physical fitness test, two obstacle courses, a 500 meter swim, a 25 meter underwater swim, one minute of treading water followed by a 25 meter swim with a rifle, 30 minutes of treading water and culminating with an eight mile run with a 55 pound pack.
