U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Nov. 29, 2017) – A CH-53E Super Stallion assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (Reinforced), the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s (MEU) Aviation Combat Element prepares to make contact with the drogue of a KC-130J Hercules assigned to Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command during an aerial-refueling mission. The 15th MEU and America Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and to preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
