U.S. FIFTH FLEET AREA OF OPERATION (Oct. 31, 2017) — The Light Armored Reconnaissance platoon of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Battalion Landing Team fires 81mm mortars during a Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise. CALFEX is the culminating event at the conclusion of Iron Magic 2018. Iron Magic 18 is an Amphibious Force, Task Force 51, 5th Marine Brigade annual bilateral engagement designed to enhance capabilities in critical mission sets inherent to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps team operating within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
