U.S. FIFTH FLEET AREA OF OPERATION (Oct. 31, 2017) — A line of vehicles assigned to the Light Armored Reconnaissance platoon of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Battalion Landing Team and Emirati armed forces tank brigade move into position while conducting a Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise. CALFEX is the culminating event at the conclusion of Iron Magic 2018. Iron Magic 18 is an Amphibious Force, Task Force 51, 5th Marine Brigade annual bilateral engagement designed to enhance capabilities in critical mission sets inherent to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps team operating within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
