U.S. FIFTH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS — Staff Sgt. Nathaniel Houck, with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Maritime Raid Force, sits astride a camel during a course provided by local camel experts and Desert Warfare Institute instructors with the Emirati armed forces. Instruction on camel packing, how to use a specific harness made to carry equipment aboard a camel, and camelback riding was provided as part of Bedouin Falcon, an engagement conducted concurrently with Iron Magic 2018, Oct. 27, 2017. Iron Magic 18 is an Amphibious Force, Task Force 51, 5th Marine Brigade annual bilateral engagement designed to enhance capabilities in critical mission sets inherent to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps team operating within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
