A drill instructor with Support Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, teaches a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program class at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Nov. 1. Recruits test to earn a tan belt, the first level in the program, and they can continue to train to earn the gray, green, brown and black belts later in their careers. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. The recruits with Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, are scheduled to graduate Jan. 12.
