U.S. Army Maj. Todd D. Pohnert, munitions deputy branch chief for Joint Sustainment Command–Afghanistan, prepares for the start of the Run Together 5K at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, April 30, 2011. The race benefited cancer research in the United Kingdom. Pohnert and his section branch chief, Lt. Col. Thomas L. Booker, agreed that the loser of the race would shave his head bald before the crowd. Both are members of the Mississippi Army National Guard’s 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command headquartered in Laurel, Miss. The unit has been deployed to Afghanistan since early October in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Booker is a resident of Philadelphia, Miss., while Pohnert is from Hattiesburg, Miss.
