The race benefited cancer research in the United Kingdom. Pohnert and Booker agreed that the loser of the race would shave his head bald before the crowd. Both are members of the Mississippi Army National Guard’s 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command headquartered in Laurel, Miss. The unit has been deployed to Afghanistan since early October in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Booker is a resident of Philadelphia, Miss., while Pohnert is from Hattiesburg, Miss.
