U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Greg Ervin, 115th Airlift Squadron, California Air National Guard, and Capt. Patrick McBride prepare to drop fire retardant over a wildfire while flying aboard a Modular Airborne Firefighting System equipped C-130J Hercules over Scurry County, Texas, April 26. MAFFS is capable of dispensing 3,000 gallons of water or fire retardant in under 5 seconds. Wildfires have spread across various parts of Texas and have burned more than 1,000 square miles of land.
