171102-N-UX013-222 PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 2, 2017) Marines assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, and Combat Assault Battalion, Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) Company, return from shore to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) in AAVs after conducting an amphibious assault exercise during Blue Chromite. Blue Chromite is an annual exercise held between the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps to strengthen interoperability and increase naval integration and proficiencies in amphibious warfare.
