U.S. Marines with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Battalion, 1st Marine Division, load cargo on to a Lockheed C-130H (NZ) Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft at Pago Pago, American Samoa, Oct. 23, 2017. Marines with 1st LAR were selected to participate in Exercise Southern Katipo 17, a bilateral training activity with the New Zealand Defense Force in order to enhance warfighting skill sets, improve relationships and enhance interoperability between the two forces.
