U.S. Navy Sailors with Tactical Air Control Squadron 11 (TACRON 11), Tactical Air Control Group One, aboard the USS Essex (LHD 2) wait to conduct a heliborne assault, Oct. 23, 2017, during Exercise Dawn Blitz. TACRON 11, in conjuction with Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, conducted an airfield seizure on San Clemente Island, California, as part of expeditionary advanced base operations training. Dawn Blitz 17 provides an opportunity to train Navy and Marine Corps counterparts in establishing scalable and agile expeditionary advanced bases capable of expanding littoral maneuver capabilities.
