Gloria Macias, in black, of Headquarters Supply Company, 340th Brigade Sustainment Battalion, California Army National Guard, is a Spanish-speaking Soldier helping a fire victim apply for federal disaster assistance Oct. 17 at a temporary Local Assistance Center in Napa, California. Macias, a supply specialist, and others within the 340th are now serving as interpreters for FEMA representatives. Others within the battalion are water purification specialists turned translators.
