(Left) U.S. Navy Commander Kevin Cólon was the keynote speaker at the Veterans Home of California Barstow for the observance of the 242nd birthday of the largest and most powerful navy in the world, Oct. 13. His message to the gathered Navy veterans was “We have a lot of heritage and capabilities … and we should be proud of that. 242 years is a long time to do what we do, and we do it well.” Cólon is the husband of Marine Major Stacey Cólon, the head of Installation and Logistics aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow.
