Dr. Paul Nguyen took 1st place over Lt Richard Sison in table tennis. Military and Air Force civilian employees at Los Angeles Air Force Base, 61st Air Base Group and Space and Missile Systems Center, Calif., gather at the Fort MacArthur parade field in San Pedro, Calif. Oct. 4, 2016, to participate in “Sports Day” for a little squadron and inter-directorate competition in a variety of sports venues. The games foster physical, mental, and spiritual health and well-being, and a chance to win over-all points for the unit trophy, not to mention bragging rights between the SMC Directorates and 61st ABG. Lt Gen John Thompson, Space and Missile Systems Center, Director, reminded the participants the following regarding Sports Day, “Sportsmanship – your character means more than the outcome of any game tomorrow. At the end of the day, we are ALL members of Team SMC…and the greatest Air Force in the world.” He also went on to say, Safety! Each of you is immensely important to our mission and our Nation, and we need you to avoid injury at all costs! Sports Day will be a resounding success if we have zero injuries, so be careful for yourself and your wingmen. Warning to “fit” junior force officers, enlisted and civilians: Do not break any of my Colonels, Chiefs or Senior Civilians! :))
