Secured onboard a C-130 Hercules from the 41st Airlift Squadron, 19th Airlift Wing, Little Rock Air Force Base, Little Rock, Ark., this Colorado Army National Guard High Mobility Artillery Rocket System from 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery, Colorado Army National Guard is being transported from the Colorado Springs airport to Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colo. where its crew will conduct a hot-panel simulated fire mission, Sept. 20, 2017.
In support of exercise War Horse Strike, this joint mission between 3-157th FA and the 19th Airlift Wing, 41st Airlift Squadron, from Little Rock Air Force Base, not only helped meet the battalion’s requirement to airlift their HIMARS and conduct “hot panel” training in field conditions, but gave the C-130 crew experience with this type of cargo under flying conditions similar to those in Afghanistan while operating out of unimproved runway surfaces.
