Suspension lowered and tires partially deflated through its central tire inflation system due to aircraft height restrictions, this Colorado Army National Guard High Mobility Artillery Rocket System awaits loading by its 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery, out of Colorado Springs, Colo., crew at Camp Red Devil, Fort Carson, Colo., Sept. 20, 2017.
In support of exercise War Horse Strike, this joint mission between 3-157th FA and the 19th Airlift Wing, 41st Airlift Squadron, from Little Rock Air Force Base, Little Rock, Ark., not only helped meet the battalion’s requirement to airlift their HIMARS and conduct “hot panel” training in field conditions, but gave the C-130 crew experience with this type of cargo under flying conditions similar to those in Afghanistan while operating out of unimproved runway surfaces.
