Camp Pendleton (September 29, 2017) Capt. Joseph E. Sawyer III a field artillery officer with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, walks to a work bench to clean his rifle after completing a conditioning hike on Camp Pendleton, California. The purpose of the conditioning hike is to target key areas, which are involved with propelling the body forward while also improving cardiovascular fitness, endurance, flexibility, strength and most importantly unit cohesion.
