Capt. Mark Quivers, commander, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, attached to 1st Advise and Assist Task Force, 1st Infantry Division, speaks to Iraqi police Sgt. Dler, a member of the elite Emergency Response Unit, about the citizens of Kirkuk City during a joint cordon and search mission March 24. Quivers, a Killeen, Texas, native, helped the Iraqi police plan the cordon and search as part of U.S. forces mission to advise, train and assist Iraqi forces. Dler said cordon and search missions provide valuable intelligence about violent extremists and show the local citizens the Iraqi police are committed to keep the people of Kirkuk safe.
