Mark Quivers, commander, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, attached to 1st Advise and Assist Task Force, 1st Infantry Division, questions an Iraqi citizen about possible violent extremist activity in his neighborhood during a partnered cordon and search operation with the Iraqi police Kirkuk Emergency Response Unit in Kirkuk City, Iraq, March 24. During cordon and search missions, U.S. soldiers advise and mentor Iraqi security forces as they enter neighborhoods to check resident status, search for illegal weapons and assure the people of Kirkuk that the Iraqi government is doing the utmost to keep its citizens safe.
