The airport's fixed control tower was condemned, following Hurricane Maria. Currently, 16 members of the Mississippi Air National Guard have taken the helms of the airport with a mobile air traffic control tower, that's powered by generators and operates 24 hour a day ensuring personnel and supplies support military relief efforts.
