A British CH-47 Chinook helicopter lifts water for transport to Douglas-Charles Airport, Dominica, from Aimé Césaire International Airport in Fort-de-France, Martinique, Sept. 27, 2017. The airport is the site of Joint Task Force – Leeward Island’s operations center. At the request of the U.S. Agency for International Development, JTF-LI has deployed aircraft and service members to assist in the delivery of humanitarian aid and disaster relief supplies to Dominica. The task force is a U.S. military unit composed of Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen, and represents U.S. Southern Command’s primary response to the hurricanes that have affected the area.
