U.S. Marines help young evacuee on Dominica

U.S. service members with Joint Task Force - Leeward Islands and members of the State Department’s Dominica team pose for a photo with Raeshawn Noel and his father, Shawn Noel, at the evacuation control center at Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica, Sept. 26, 2017. Raeshawn, 3, and his father are among the people evacuated by the task force and the Department of State in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. U.S. service members with Joint Task Force - Leeward Islands have set up an evacuation control center at Douglas-Charles Airport to assist in the voluntary evacuation of U.S. citizens stranded on Dominica after Hurricane Maria. At the request of partner nations and both the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development, JTF-LI has deployed aircraft and service members to areas in the eastern Caribbean Sea affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria. The task force is a U.S. military unit composed of Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen, and represents U.S. Southern Command’s primary response to both disasters. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Ian Leones)
