A loved one holds her sleepy dog while she watches USS Bataan depart Naval Station Norfolk March 23. The Bataan Amphibious Ready Group is deploying to support U.S. and international efforts off the coast of Libya in the Mediterranean Sea. The BAT ARG and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit are executing an early deployment to the region in support of U.S. 6th Fleet. BAT ARG is made up the following units; Amphibious Squadron Six, 22 MEU, the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan, the amphibious dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island and the amphibious transport dock USS Mesa Verde.
