A family use a piece of paper and pencil to copy a name from the Mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall, also known as the AV Wall, following a pinning ceremony during the 2017 Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Air Show at MCAS Miramar, Calif., Sept. 23. AV Wall volunteers, family members and active duty service members gave lapel pins to Vietnam veterans to commemorate their service and express gratitude. “The 2017 MCAS Miramar Air Show gives the public and current service members an opportunity to say thank you to the veterans of the Vietnam War,” said Col. Jason Woodworth, commanding officer of MCAS Miramar. “Our goal is to remind the veterans that the country cares about them and truly values the sacrifice they made for the American people, regardless of how they were treated when they initially returned from Vietnam.”(U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
