Col. Charles Roberts, commander of 61st Air Base Group at LAAFB, officiated the ceremony along with guest speaker, retired Col. Kurt Hackmeier, the son of Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Hackmeier, who was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and multiple Japanese POW Camps during World War II. Col. Hackmeier shared the trials and sufferings his father endured during this period and how such tortures reached back to his family.
