170918-N-DC385-268 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 18, 2017) Sailors, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), recover Marines, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), on a combat rubber raiding craft (CRRC) from the ship’s well deck as part of an amphibious maritime warfare (AMW) exercise. AMW aims to enhance the interoperability and amphibious maritime capabilities of the Bonhomme Richard and 31st MEU team through a multitude of well deck evolutions. Bonhomme Richard, flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
