    170917-N-NP779-035 KEY WEST, Fla. – Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Caylin D. Jones and, from Flint, Michigan, and Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Tony E. Layton, from Cumberland, Md., Sailors assigned to Naval Air Station Key West’s Port Operations, handle mooring lines from State University of New York Maritime College’s training ship Empire State VI as it pulls in to Naval Air Station Key West’s Truman Harbor Mole Pier as part of an ongoing FEMA effort to provide aid to local citizens in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Empire State will act as a floating berthing for state and federal first responders. The Department of Defense is supporting FEMA, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
