Sergeant Louis Gomez, Inspector Generals office, Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., relays the history of the Prisoner of War/Missing In Action Recognition Ceremony held at Veterans Home of California, Barstow, Sept. 15. POW/MIA Recognition Day was established in 1988 by Congressional decree. Currently there are 1,606 “unaccounted for” Americans in Southeast Asia, according to the event’s program.
