Lance Cpl. Daniel Schueller, dog handler, 2nd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, of Alden, N.Y., commands Cpl. Jazz, the platoon's bomb sniffing dog, to search an area during training here Feb. 28. The Lava Dogs have dogs attached to each platoon to help fight the improvised explosive device threat during their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.
