Ken Parys stands beside a reconstructed version of a monument which his father, John Parys, stood beside 71 years ago in Whittier, Alaska, Sept. 14, 2017. John Parys was a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Soldier stationed in Whittier when it was a SECRET facility referred to as H-12 during World War II.
