III Marine Expeditionary Force   

Marines with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, conduct pre-flight function checks on a CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter in preparation for a resupply mission to Sendai, Japan, during Operation Tomodachi, March 15. The squadron’s current mission is part of a broad U.S. government plan to support Japan’s request for humanitarian assistance. The proximity of Marine aviation assets at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma has allowed Marines from III MEF to rapidly deploy critically-needed supplies and aid to areas that need it most.
