Lengyel, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, at Homestead Air Reserve Base on Sept. 15. Lengyel thanked the soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry for assisting Florida with relief efforts following the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma. On Sept. 8, Wis. Gov. Scott Walker signed an executive order, which authorized the adjutant general to call elements of the Wisconsin National Guard to state active duty, as necessary.
