    170915-N-FR671-072 SAN DIEGO (Sept. 15, 2017) – Command Master Chief Patrick A. Tummins embraces Sally Monsoor after an honorary chief petty officer’s pinning ceremony for her son, Medal of Honor recipient Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class (SEAL) Michael A. Monsoor, on Mount Soledad in San Diego.  Michael A. Monsoor died in combat in 2006 and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. The second ship of the Zumwalt class of guided missile destroyers, USS Michael Monsoor, was named in his honor and will serve as a multi-mission platform capable of operating as an integral part of naval, joint or combined maritime forces.
