SAN DIEGO (Sept. 15, 2017) – Chief Operations Specialist Chris Eaton stands at attention before the start of the USS Michael Monsoor Chief Petty Officer’s pinning ceremony on Mount Soledad in San Diego. Michael A. Monsoor died in combat in 2006 and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. The second ship of the Zumwalt class of guided missile destroyers, USS Michael Monsoor, was named in his honor and will serve as a multi-mission platform capable of operating as an integral part of naval, joint or combined maritime forces.
