Marines with 7th Communications Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF (Forward) tighten gear that is to be loaded on a KC-130J Super Hercules cargo aircraft here March 14, during humanitarian assistance operations in response to the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck Japan March 11. The supplies will be delivered to III MEF (Forward) forces in Naval Air Station Atsugi in support of Operation Tomodachi. The proximity of Marine Corps aviation assets at Marine Corps Air Stations Futenma has allowed Marines from III MEF to rapidly deploy critically-needed supplies and aid to support the relief effort.
