An HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter assigned to the Air Force Reserve's 920th Rescue Wing returns to Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., Sept. 12, 2017, after evacuating ahead of Hurricane Irma's destructive path. Aircrews prepositioned the aircraft out of harm's way inside the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando to serve as 1st responders to those in need after the storm. After canvassing the state of Florida for two days, it was determined that no air rescues were needed. The unit stood down from search and rescue support after being dismissed from the civil support mission by U.S. Northern Command in support of FEMA. Hurricane Irma came ashore Sept. 10 in the Florida Keys, forcing military installations throughout the state and in nearby locations to brace for tropical storm and hurricane-like conditions.
