PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Spc. Cody Nelson, a native of Okeechobee, Fla., and an HH-60 Black Hawk medevac helicopter crew chief; assigned to Company C, 6th Battalion, 101st General Support Aviation Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), secure tail rotor blades, Sept. 12, as his unit stages in preparation to support Hurricane Irma relief efforts. Nelson said he has family in Florida whose property received minor damage from the hurricane. While the 101st Abn. Div. received orders to reposition some of its forces, it has not been ordered to assist in the Total Army’s support to local, state and federal hurricane response efforts and the Defense Department’s Defense Support of Civil Authorities mission.
