ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 12, 2017) The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) launches Landing Craft Unit (LCU) 1664, attached to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 2, off the coast of Key West, Florida, during humanitarian relief efforts following Hurricane Irma’s landfall. The Department of Defense is supporting Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and as one component of the overall whole-of-government response efforts.
