A CH-47 Chinook helicopter assigned to 6th Battalion, 101st General Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) departs from Tupelo Mississippi Regional Airport, Sept. 11. A serial of four helicopters travelled to Mobile, Ala., and staged as a contingency effort in support of Hurricane Irma relief operations. While the 101st Abn. Div. received orders to reposition some of its forces, it has not been ordered to assist in the Total Army’s support to local, state and federal hurricane response efforts and the Defense Department’s Defense Support of Civil Authorities mission. However, it remains ready to respond to this or any contingency.
