U.S. Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), board an MV-22B Osprey aircraft aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), in the Caribbean Sea, to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to begin to assist the Federal Emergency Management Agency in hurricane relief efforts Sept. 10, 2017. The 26th MEU is supporting authorities in the U.S. Virgin Islands with the combined goal of protecting the lives and safety of those in areas affected by Hurricane Irma.
