The Cass Tech High School Drumline poses with Marines assigned to Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Detroit and Marky Ramone, former drummer of the punk rock band The Ramones, after taking first place in the 2017 Marine Week Detroit Drumline Competition. “I think the community loved it,” said U.S. Marine Capt. Jeffery Newman, a recruiting support officer with 12th Marine Corps District, currently assigned to SPMAGTF Detroit. “The entire week we’ve seen nothing but smiling faces, happiness to have us out here, and it’s been our pleasure to come out here and show this to Detroit.” Marine Week Detroit is an opportunity to connect with the people of the greater Detroit area, and thank them for their support.
